The Laboratory for Strategic Materials conducts research on the development of next-generation aluminum-ion (Al-ion) and lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries, with a focus on materials innovation and electrochemical performance. Our work includes the design and optimization of electrolytes to improve stability, conductivity, and safety, as well as the development and evaluation of new electrode materials aimed at enhancing energy density, cycling performance, and resource sustainability. By coupling fundamental electrochemical studies with materials synthesis and characterization, this research supports the advancement of durable and efficient battery technologies aligned with emerging energy storage demands.
